Hippodrome Policies & Procedures
Stabling Information - All stabling will be at The Hippodrome in North Augusta, SC - approximately 3 miles from the Parade staging area. There will be permanent 12' X 12' stalls with swinging doors; indoor wash racks with hot and cold water; and ample room for exercising.
Parking - Trailers and vans will be allowed to park next to the barns for unloading and loading ONLY. Parking will be in designated areas. This is necessary for fire and safety regulations and for participants' protection and convenience.
Arrival & Departure - Horses may start arriving at 9:00AM, Thursday, September 18, 2008 and all horses must be removed from the grounds no later than 12:00 PM, Monday, September 22, 2008, unless otherwise arranged with The Hippodrome staff. Stall office and Coggins check-in will be open as follows: 9:00AM - 5:00PM. If you will be arriving before or after these posted times please note it on your stabling form.
Health Regulations - South Carolina/Georgia regulations require that all horses over 6 months of age must have a current Negative Coggins Certificate (EIA) issued within twelve (12) months of the Parade date. If you will be traveling with horses not in the Parade, they must also have a current Negative Coggins Certificate. Certificate(s) must be presented upon entering The Hippodrome grounds and again on Parade Day at the Fairgrounds.
Bedding - Two bags of shavings per box stall will be supplied as first bedding. Additional bedding will be available during regular business hours at normal rates. If arriving extremely late or early, please contact The Hippodrome office at (803) 278-4785 for special arrangements for bedding.
Stall Policy -Please do not occupy any stall that has not been assigned to you by Parade Officials.
Dogs - Dogs are allowed on the Hippodrome grounds ONLY if they are leashed at all times.
Golf Carts - Private golf carts are permitted. Three wheelers and four wheelers are strongly discouraged. ONLY licensed drivers will be allowed to operate golf carts, three or four wheelers.
Camper Hook-ups - There will be 24 camper hook-ups (water, power) available at a cost of $ 25.00 per night. Contact The Hippodrome office at (803) 278-4785 for reservations.
Under South Carolina law, an equine activity sponsor or equine professional is not liable for an injury to or the death of a participant in an equine activity resulting from an inherent risk of equine activity, pursuant to Article 7, Chapter 9 of Title 47, Code of Laws of South Carolina, 1976.
